Dear Future Colleague,

Thank you for taking the time to explore our website and get a glimpse of who we are and what we value.

Each year, we welcome a diverse group of fellows who share a common calling: to provide compassionate, expert care to the sickest children, and to grow as physicians, scholars, and professionals in a field that demands both clinical precision and deep humanism.

At the heart of our program is a deep belief that how we train matters as much as what we teach. Pediatric critical care is intense, complex, and deeply relational—and so is our approach to fellowship. We strive to create an environment where excellence is cultivated through challenge, supported by mentorship, and grounded in mutual respect.

Our fellows are immersed in a uniquely rich clinical experience, rotating across sites within the Texas Children’s Hospital system. They learn not only to manage complex physiology, but also to lead multidisciplinary teams, communicate with families in moments of crisis, and uphold professionalism in every aspect of their work.

But beyond the technical training, what truly defines our fellowship is our culture. This is a community where feedback flows freely, where well-being is prioritized, and where faculty are genuinely invested in each fellow’s growth—clinically, academically, and personally. We celebrate who you are when you arrive, and we work together to shape who you will become.

Whether you aspire to a career in academic medicine, clinical leadership, or research, our program is designed to equip you with the tools, relationships, and experiences to succeed—and to make a lasting impact in the lives of children and families.

I invite you to explore our curriculum, meet our current fellows, and reach out if you’d like to learn more. We look forward to meeting you—and possibly welcoming you—to our community.

Warm regards,

Danny Castro, D.O., M.Ed.
