The Menninger Department of Psychiatry at Baylor College of Medicine utilizes facilities at the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Harris Health Systems (a county hospital system), including Ben Taub Hospital, Baylor Psychiatry Clinic, and several private, not for profit, hospital affiliations in both general and child psychiatry such as The Menninger Clinic of Houston, Houston Methodist and Texas Children's Hospital.
The central administrative offices of the Menninger Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and the Baylor Psychiatry Clinic are located in the Lee and Joe Jamail Specialty Care Center where the residency also holds didactic seminars at least five hours per week for each residency class level.
First- and second-year residents rotate through the affiliated institutions in the Texas Medical Center: The Methodist Hospital, Ben Taub Hospital, Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and Texas Children's Hospital. Second-year residents also spend two months at The Menninger Clinic.
Third-year residents are assigned to outpatient facilities for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness (at the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center or Ben Taub Hospital), for outpatient psychotherapy (to the Baylor Psychiatry Clinic) and to a variety of community agencies or subspecialty clinics within the Texas Medical Center and the greater Houston community.
Fourth-year residents choose elective and selective rotations available within the Texas Medical Center, such as the Women's Pavilion, the Intensive Outpatient Program at Ben Taub Hospital, Professionals in Crisis program at The Menninger Clinic of Houston, sleep medicine and pain management at Houston Methodist and specialty units at the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
