The Division of Pediatric Surgery offers the Pediatric Surgery Residency Program, which is widely regarded as a premier and highly sought-after training opportunity. This competitive program accepts one resident per year, and applicants must have completed an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education General Surgery Residency Program as well as be board-eligible in general surgery.
The two-year residency is primarily at Texas Children's Hospital, the largest children's hospital in the nation. Residents are exposed an all-encompassing continuum of surgical cases and work with attending surgeons who are recognized authorities in their areas of interest. The Pediatric Surgery Chief resident works collaboratively with residents in pediatric medicine in the care of sick children.
