10th Annual Cardiovascular Research Institute Symposium

The Cardiovascular Research Institute of Baylor College of Medicine will host the 10th Annual Cardiovascular Research Institute Symposium.
Date: April 5, 2023, from 8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Location: Cullen Auditorium
The Symposium will feature national keynote speaker Jeffery D. Molkentin, Ph.D., Director of the Division of Molecular Cardiovascular Biology; Executive Co-Director, Heart Institute; Professor, University of Cincinnati Department of Pediatrics at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.
The day will be filled with scientific lectures, poster presentations and awards.
CME Credits
The CVRI will offer CME credits for participation in this year’s symposium. BCM designates this live activity for a maximum of 5.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ commensurate with the extent of each physician’s participation in the day’s events. CME credit is only available to faculty members who are physicians. Baylor College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Abstract Submission
Additionally, the CVRI is accepting abstracts to feature throughout the event. Abstract submission is open to anyone interested in presenting a research poster on a topic pertaining to cardiovascular research at the CVRI Symposium. We invite you to submit an abstract and present a poster. Please be sure to register for the symposium if you plan to submit an abstract. This is a great opportunity to share your research and network with other cardiovascular researchers in the Baylor College of Medicine and in the Texas Medical Center community.
Abstract Submission Deadline: Monday, March 6, 2023, 6 p.m. CST.
Indicate in the online abstract submission whether you are an undergraduate student (undergrad, post-bacc, or high school student), graduate student, postdoctoral fellow, clinical fellow/resident, or junior faculty (instructor or assistant professor). The appropriate category must be selected to know who will be eligible for each award category during the poster presentation sessions the day of the symposium. Only trainees and junior faculty are eligible for awards. Awards (a plaque and cash prize) will be announced and given to the top poster presenters from each category.
Note posters can be in any area of cardiovascular research including, but not limited to:
- Coronary artery disease, atherosclerosis, ischemia
- Heart failure, cardiomyopathy
- Arrhythmias, channelopathies
- Congenital developmental heart disease
- Aortopathy, valvular heart disease
- Cardiac regeneration, stem cells
