The Baylor College of Medicine Child Neurology Residency Programs take full advantage of the tremendous educational resources available in the Texas Medical Center with resident rotation opportunities at selected sites within the Medical Center. While Child Neurology Training is principally based at Texas Children’s Hospital, residents have inpatient adult neurology rotations at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center, Ben Taub Hospital, and Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center The yearly outpatient curriculum is divided into 13 blocks. NDD rotations in developmental and behavioral pediatrics are primarily located in the Texas Children’s Hospital’s Meyer Center for Development and Autism Center.
Texas Children’s Hospital
Texas Children’s Hospital opened in 1954 as a three-story building with 106 beds and 4,558 patients in the first year. Almost 70 years later, it is the largest children’s hospital in the country with 10 locations across the greater Houston area (and more under construction in Texas) and more than 4.6 million patient encounters annually. Texas Children’s Hospital has eight subspecialties in the top five for U.S. News and World Report top children’s hospital specialties, including Neurology and Neurosurgery at #2 in the country.
There is more than $115 million of annual research funding, covering over 800 active clinical trials at Texas Children’s and more than 800,000 square feet of lab space. Forbes ranked Texas Children’s Hospital among the top 300 workplaces in the nation (per texaschildrensannualreport.org).
