
Section Highlights
- The Baylor Medicine Pulmonary group increased patient encounters by 28 percent and boosted overall productivity and access by 40 percent, driven by strategic faculty recruitment and expanded services.
- Baylor becomes one of the ten largest lung transplant programs in the country, completing 103 transplants with excellent outcomes and low median wait times despite increasing case complexity.
- The newly established Center for Advanced Lung Disease and Transplantation at BSLMC sees over 3,200 patient visits, marking a 23 percent increase from the previous year.
- Faculty secured over $10 million in research funding, including three new R01 grants and two NIH T32 training grants supporting seven future pulmonary scientists.
- The section publishes more than 130 papers and leads national and international educational initiatives through major societies, while continuing to deliver one of BCM’s most well-attended grand rounds series.
