With a particular focus on the intersection of Psychiatry and Obstetrics and Gynecology, Baylor Medicine’s reproductive psychiatrists are changing the lives of women suffering from mental health issues related to their reproductive cycle, creating healthier mothers, babies and families.
Our experienced specialists provide expert evaluation, diagnosis and treatment for mood and psychiatric disorders that can occur during pregnancy, postpartum and menopause, including postpartum depression, the number one complication after delivery. We also treat women’s mental health needs related to infertility, reproductive loss, menstrual cycles, and hormonal changes, providing a resource for women to turn to at every stage of life.
We are dedicated to providing the latest, evidence-based treatment strategies, improving access to reproductive mental health care for underserved populations, and increasing awareness to reduce the stigma associated with mental health issues.
As Baylor College of Medicine faculty members, our specialists are advancing the understanding and treatment of reproductive mental health issues through research and education, including training the next generation of specialists through our Women’s Mental Health fellowship. We are one of two programs in the U.S. that offer this training to Obstetrics and Gynecology, Family Medicine, and other non-psychiatric physicians.
This team continues to lead the way in reproductive psychiatry through advocacy, involvement, and collaboration, serving on national and international organizations dedicated to improving women’s mental health care.
