Education Technology received communications from ExamSoft about the upcoming release of new operating systems. They are requesting that all students hold off upgrading their current computers, or from purchasing new computers with the new operating systems pre-installed, until they have developed a compatible software.

Announcement

Microsoft and Apple have each announced the release of new operating systems, which will be available in the near future; the timing of each is listed below. ExamSoft has not yet certified compatibility for any of these new operating systems with Examplify.

We are aiming to have an Examplify release available to certify these new operating systems for use with Examplify near the time of their launch.

Exam-takers should not update until Ed-Tech announces Examplify support for the new operating systems.

This includes beta versions that may be available to exam-takers prior to their official release dates.

This information has already been communicated to your exam-takers to ensure they are able to continue testing without issue.

Microsoft Operating Systems

  • Microsoft has not yet announced a release date for Windows 11 23H2, however, it is expected to be available sometime this Fall (Likely on Oct. 10, 2023).

Apple Operating Systems

  • Apple will release macOS Sonoma (macOS 14) on Sept. 26, 2023
  • Apple will release iPadOS 17 on Sept. 18, 2023

Ed-Tech will follow up with you in the coming weeks with additional updates. In the meantime, please reach out to Ed-Tech (ed-tech@bcm.edu) with any questions.
